Another Lost Child

Walking in Brixton the other morning I decided to pop into the wonderful Photofusion gallery, not having been there for a while and not knowing what exhibition was on. My first reaction to the exhibition – Another Lost Child – was curiosity about the photographs. Who did them, why were they not framed, what was the writing all around the photographs saying? After giving myself some time to ‘take in’ the work I then began to get a real sense of what it was all about. Whilst news about gangs in South London occasionally hits the headlines I don’t remember seeing a photography project on a gang, and certainly not a year-long project focusing on a specific member of a gang. The more I looked the more fascinated I became, with the personal perspective of the exhibition challenging my ideas, feelings and perception. I came away that day feeling that I had actually seen something quite remarkable. Many thanks to Adam Patterson, photographer, and Jean Claude Dagrou, subject/photographer/writer. The exhibition continues until March 25th 2011.
